Woke Up To Some Weird Weather

This image is a picture I took of a snow woman that my Mom had given us when we first got married. She had a friend, a snowman, but one of the dogs destroyed him and now I guard my snow woman on a higher shelve. I have a few things that are from my Mom and Dad, not many because they just didn't have very much. They were very simple people that seemed content to have a roof over their heads and enough land to grow food in a garden. I really just used this image to talk about the crazy weather we are having. I noticed last night when I went to bed it sounded VERY windy. We still had some ice and snow mixed in around the streets and grass. I knew it was raining when I let Clifford out, but had heard on the news that we were supposed to get freezing rain. Just woke up because the wind sounded like a tornado. Looked outside and all ice and snow is gone. Temps must have warmed up a lot! The wind sounds like tornado weather. What the heck?!?!?!?! A tornado for Christmas???? Don't know what this day is going to bring. I have lots of activities planned and a tornado doesn't fit it real well.

Best Christmas Present

Here is our best Christmas present! Our little Maddie. She was 11 months old yesterday. I got to be with her three days this week. She entertains me with her thirst for wanting to figure everything out. It is hard to believe someone so young and tiny can have such a BIG personality.

Her eyes are so soulful. I have never seen a baby that has such a well developed pincher grasp. She has always been able to pick up the tiniest things. She has just started to become pretty vocal. Today I was trying to get her go to sleep and she had her head kinda laying on me and she started jibbering away and then looked up at me and laughed. She did this several times as if she were telling me some jokes. I wish I knew what was in her little head. She is so adorable.

Next Christmas she will be talking and walking. I better start saving up for some presents because she will know what Christmas and her Birthday mean by age 2, or at least more so than this year. I hope I don't spoil her too much, or at least in a way that would be bad for her.

I Must Be Older Than Dirt

Well, I admit that I do not know my movie stars very well anymore, and I have no clue who this fella is. I passed up thinking some of these young men were sexy many years ago. One year I think it was Brad Pitt, and I do know who he is. He dumped Jennifer for Angela something or other. He is still a boy. Tom Cruise is a boy. Some other young guy that married the girl that was in Ghost, they are all just too young to be sexy. Except for the teenagers I guess. I used to be one, a million years ago. I think we liked rock stars or singers when I was a teenager. But I don't think we thought they were sexy. I loved the Beatles, but they weren't sexy. Oh wait...I think Tom Jones was supposed to be sexy. My mind is failing me here. I can't think of any sexy stars when I was young enough to think about anyone being sexy. But I recently saw a commercial with Tony Curtis in it. I think he had on eyeliner. He must be about 80 by now. Well, it is 8:30 now. The old woman has to go to bed.

Today we went to a church service at the church where my husband and I got married. Our niece still attends there every week, and today she was playing bells. It was very beautiful and a treat to get to go back there. I don't think we have been there since we had our daughter baptized there 28 years ago. This church is in south St. Louis and we live in St. Charles which is about 40 minutes away. My husband and his family attended this church when he was small. I am not sure how old it is, but it is still in excellent condition. Our daughter and baby Maddie went with us. I took baby Maddie to the restroom to change her diaper and they had a little sitting room and I thought I would let her crawl around for a minute. I quickly changed my mind because they had the old heat radiators going and they felt very hot.

With our disposable world that we live in these days, it made me wonder how they maintain these and how many people still use them. The heat felt great, but I wonder about the safety and upkeep of them. I am going to guess that with this type of heat, you would not need all the ducts we have in our modern homes, for the air conditioner and heat. I grew up in a house with a coal stove for heat. I wonder how mothers keep their little ones from crawling over there and getting burned. I also remember my own children spending more time in their playpen when they were younger. The portable playpens they have now aren't really big enough for a child to stay in very long to play in. I was curious and just googled playpens and now see that a few places sell larger ones, but they are more like gates. I think when the next grandchild comes along, I will look into getting one like I had with my kids, if they still make them.
Gotta get back to work now. Just wanted to keep track of my day!
