Play Ball!

There are times when I really wish that I were a sports fan. Today would be one of those days. The All Star Baseball Game is hosted here tonight in our city. Lots of exciting things going on in St. Louis. Roads being closed, hotels being filled, movie stars, famous music artists, parties everywhere. Red carpet lining the streets. President Obama will be throwing out the first pitch. FBI security everywhere!!! I am sure there are thousands of people that are down town taking lots of photos, and really having a festive time.
And then there's me. I really dislike crowds and traffic and I just don't have it in me to be a sports minded person. I tried a few years to be a baseball fan, but after just a few short years discovered I didn't have what it took to be a "True Fan". I found myself getting a little too upset when they didn't play well. Screaming... throwing things and angry looks on my face happened all too often. I said mean things to the TV...like "An old person in a wheel chair could play better than you!" I didn't like myself this way. Real fans stick with their team no matter what...for YEARS. Like my husband and son and many other friends and family members.
Aside from all the excitement in our city, what I am doing today and yesterday is sitting around trying to stay out the way of the painters that are in our house. We are having 6 rooms worked on and I have Clifford on a leash to keep him and myself out of the way. I feel extremely blessed to have people more qualified than I am to be doing all of this work.

Sounds like sports bring out the worst in you, Brenda.
I'm going to a pro soccer game on Saturday in Toronto. I haven't been to a proper sporting event in years. I used to go to Toronto Blue Jay's Baseball games, but now I'm not a fan. I do enjoy soccer and this event should be fun. I hope it doesn't rain!

I'm not a sports person either, unless you call ice skating and ball room dancing a sport. I like to watch both, probably because I can understand them. LOL

Hopefully your weather is nice enough that you and Clifford can be sitting under a shade tree, while he sleeps and you read or nap yourself.

I'm with you Brenda! I hate it when the World Cup is on and England is playing. People get so manic about it and so desperate when they lose, which they have done since 1966! You'd think they'd learn wouldn't you.

We've had Wimbledon which is OK. I watch a little of that and enjoy the commentaries from John McEnroe and Boris Becker. They're so funny. However I get fed up when my husband comes in and that's what we have to watch until it finishes. We're a one telly house! My husband has a little TV in the kitchen but I won't watch it.

Now it's cricket with The Ashes! Think I'll go on holiday again.

Best of luck with the decorators Brenda. I'm going to buy paint this week, we have five rooms to do and the hall and stairs, but we'll be doing it ourselves. I can't persuade my husband to part with the cash!

Well, it's exciting for St. Louis to have the All Star game there.

But I am not a sports fan either. However, baseball is the one sport I can tolerate better than football, which I absolutely hate. I used to play baseball with my kids when they were, well, kids, and I was a mean batter! But I would never go to a game in person. I don't like huge crowds either, that's why I moved to the country. Now Eileen (my best friend) loves baseball, and is a huge Yankee fan. To each his own, I guess. LOL.

I'm like Patty, I love Dancing with the Stars and ice skating, and tennis, occassionally, since I used to play years ago. Oh, and horseback riding, too, since I used to ride. But baseball, football, basketball I can do without. Hope I don't get any fans mad!

Hope, too, the men are done painting and you can relax again, and let poor Clifford off the leash.

Hi Brenda,

I'm not a sports fan either, except like Patty and Renie, I too like Ice Skating and Dancing With The Stars, and I call those a sport. I also hate big crowds. I just stay in my little corner of the world and enjoy the peace and quiet.

This evening I watched the fireworks at the Eiffel Tower on the internet. I wasn't there in person, but enjoyed it just as much. It looked pretty crowded, I would have been a nervous wreck had I been there in person. ;-)

Fortunately, I am married to a painter, so no worries when something needs painted, he does it. That was what he has done since he was 15 years old.

I got my idea of the pictures of the clouds from your post yesterday. I started looking up in the sky and noticed the lovely blue sky and clouds yesterday. Thank you for visiting and the nice comments.

Aah yes, baseball...the bane of my existance, just kidding. My sweetie loves the game and hockey in the winter. Me, could not care less. I just saw Obama throw the first pitch, not bad...ciao

Hey! We did some Obama dodging here in suburban Detroit yesterday, too. He closed down roads, created traffic jams and caused just a bit of a kerfuffle.

I like sports, but watching baseball is like watching the paint dry-sort of what you've been doing. I'll stick with watching the dastardly deeds of the peleton for the next 2 weeks. After that, there will be a lull until hockey starts up again.

My mom was a foul mouthed fan. Her anger towards each sport and athlete gave us many chuckles.

Well Brenda! THAT IS BEING A GOOD FAN!!!! My son is an Angel fan big time and was heard during a play off game when the Angles could get out of their own way; to say....I HATE the Angels.. :) It must be exciting to have your house painted. We do that ourselves.. and Paul's NOT at all interested in getting John Wayne's Room Painted! What colors are you going with?

I am not a sports fan, never could "get" there in my mind, even though three of my four sons played on teams and my husband coached and managed various ones....

Yes, appreciation for all those great workers..that is good. I could use some workers around here.

I don't like sports either! I never watch football or tennis. It doesn't make me angry, but I am simply not interested!

I have never been to a major league baseball game or a football game but I have watched some of them on television. I like football but we have two teams and my loyalty is always with the losers. Not a good way to be I suppose.

Thank you very much for visiting my blog and for the comment you left me there.
