Christmas Cheer

Our Christmas this year was very pleasant. Every year I feel there just isn't enough time to see everyone I would like to see, or do everything I would like to do. But it always works out however it is meant to... I suppose. Brian's family came in town this year to celebrate here, so Bob and I and Bobby were invited over to their house yesterday for a nice meal. We brought Maddie her gifts to open up there and got to take movies and pictures of her 2nd Christmas. Last night we exchanged our gifts amongst ourselves. Katy and Brian and Maddie got me tickets to see Chicago at The Fox next week. I will be going with Katy and I am really looking forward to it. I love live performances.
A good gift choice for Bob is almost always a book, and Bobby gave him a sports book and Katy and Brian gave him a gift certificate. I also got him some books that I thought he would like.
One is about some of our Catholic churches and their history and architecture. And 2 others are about St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

We got Bobby the lettering and numbers on his Blues Jersey that we got him last year. Since I do not watch sports, I could not tell you anything about this person he wanted on the jersey.
Bobby knows how much being together as a family means to me, and got me this game. We all watch this TV show and have since it started so it should be a fun way to spend some family time together.
The gym was not open yesterday, but I got in there today and managed to increase some of the exercises I do. I have now advanced to 10 minutes on the elliptical machine. I hope to be up to 30 minutes in a few more months. It is FREEZING here!!!!!! I think we had a high of 20 today. We have had very little snow, but with all the rain we had for a few days, the water on the side streets froze up and you have to be careful. I hope it starts to warm up to the 40's pretty soon. That sounds warm to me right about now.

Merry Christmas

Jimmy Stewart One of my favorite movies is "It's A Wonderful Life". And one of my favorite scenes is when George has been "reborn" and realizes that his life really did matter and sees life with a new heart and soul and his eyes see everything as if he has seen them all for the first time. I love the excitement this scene fills me with. Merry Christmas to everyone who reads this little blog of mine, and thank you all so much for all the Cards you sent to us, as per header photo.
May you all realize the importance your life has on others.

Hair Dyeing Disasters

The day before I came down with the flu I decided I was sick of looking in the mirror and seeing so much gray hair looking back at me. I went out and bought the hair dye in the above photo.

My hair came out looking this color. This is not a photo of my hair, but of yarn that I stole from someplace. I mean.. I did not steal the yarn...the photo. If you google charcoal you will see some pretty interesting images pop up. Especially the art images done in charcoal. This is a link I found where they are showing how to do charcoal sketches. Very cool.
I tried to take a picture of myself but... was scary looking. I have since dyed it twice and now have sort of brown colored hair with not much gray showing. Not sure if I like it... but I sure do not like the gray either and blond coloring just isn't doing the trick. It really sucks getting old sometimes. Especially when you are a somewhat vain woman.
Other than that little fiassco, life has been good. I am pretty on top of things for being just a few days shy of Christmas. I have made it to the gym everyday since I joined except for the 2 days that I was ill. It gets better each time and I really enjoy it.
I need to back track and make a few comments to some of you have visited me recently. I really do appreciate all of your visits.

Knitted Poncho

I finally finished the poncho I was knitting for Maddie to match her hat. After looking at the photo though, I see that I should have blocked it or steamed it before I put it on her and took a photo. Oh well. I was so surprised it fit her. Once again, as with the hat, I could not figure out the instructions and had to make it up as I went along.

Bob took these with his iPhone. It takes pretty good photos. She couldn't quite get the feel of the sleeveless poncho as you can see, and wanted to play "Where's Maddie" with the hat. I think now I will go back to knitting her little sister the blanket I started a while back.
