The Fountain of Youth.....

Whenever I get a chance in the last couple of weeks, I have been going through some areas in the house where I stuff away things that I think I will one day want.. or... need. These  things need to vacate, so I can free up the space I need.  Whenever I embark upon these times, I always, always ...see some sort of memory from former years.  I recently stumbled upon some photos of a lady that I knew when we lived at our former home.  Her children and my children were born around the same time and we used to get together for play dates.  She moved, after having known her for about 5 years, and I lost touch with her after awhile.  With face book, it is easy enough to put in someones name and see if you can locate them.  I decided to see if she was there and she was.  The photo of her was amazing.  She looks better than she did when I knew her 25 years ago.  I run across lots of people that are acquaintances that I have known from way back when....and I think the same thing.  Wow...they look just like they did all those years ago.  What is their secret???  The really depressing thing for me is see....is  that they have remained their same tiny little figure.  None of the people I am talking about have that look... of having had plastic surgery.  They just look like they have been drinking the water from The Fountain of Youth.  That is so not fair..................

PS.  I may revive my old blog "Happy Thoughts"....go take a look.

I don't know how old you are, but I think you good very good. You're very pretty. Some people in their 40s can look ancient. I think it's all in the genes. But, yes, I have a friend who looks pretty much the same way she did in high school. But you know, she is not very healthy, oddly enough. You just never know...

Good for you! You are reading one of my favorite books -- Anna Karenina.

As far as people looking better with age, that's interesting. I think we have come a long ways with cosmetics and hair styles and so forth. That always helps.

More than that, I think we enjoy seeing people who are our own age. I find people my age are much more attractive to me than people who are 35. I really have no clue what these 60 or 70 year old men see in being with a 25 or 35 year old woman!

I would find that quite awful, to be very honest. I can barely stand to be around such young people in the limited situations where I have to deal with them -- retail stores, students, doctors (!), dentists (!!), financial advisers (!!!), judges! Heh!! But you get the idea.

I agree with Johanna. You are a very good looking woman and when you enter a room, the girls can leave because a woman has entered!

Take care.

Jo,
I think you are right about it being in the genes. I know a couple of ladies who take really good care of their selves, have never smoked, etc. but still have the wrinkles that you would think would have come from smoking or not taking care of themselves.
Thanks for the compliment...I am 58 or 59...one of those. Ha. Don't be deceived by the doctored little photo on my profile though. Ha.. Thanks just the same. You made my day! And by the way...I have always thought you looked like Helen Mirren....and THAT is a compliment. I think she is really pretty.

Russell,
I am struggling through Anna Karenina. Whenever I read books that have words and/or names I can't pronounce, I get frustrated. Too many Russian names in it, that I can't pronounce! I told my husband I may have to scratch out those names and replace them with George Smith and Bill Jones. That kind of makes me sound like a Hoosier...ha.
I hear you about the older men getting with the younger women...WHAT??? That just seems really weird, unless they truly are in love with each other and the age thing is not a big deal. I think we are both talking about the "movie stars". I don't personally know any...in Real Life. Ha...
Thanks for your visit and kind words...

Finding an old acquaintance is great! I know what you mean about people looking great, and then one look at yourself in the mirror and one wonders what they think about seeing you. Do they someone that looks great, or do they see what we ourselves see...? I wish there was a true fountain of youth to plunge into!!! lol! 8-)
Hope you are having great weather down your way Brenda!

Brenda,

I'm sure the friends looking at your picture are thinking the same thing-how great you look for your age.

I used to worry about how I looked when I was younger. These days, I just try to enjoy each day by doing things I love to do, being with friends I love to spend time with, and forget about worrying how I look. The fountain of youth is enjoying life to the fullest, with a big smile on your face, and fun in your heart.

Hope your weather is as beautiful as it is here. Happy weekend.

Renie

It's such a pity to lose friends after having had a great time together. The same happened to me. I have new friends now and I have no idea where my former friends live. I am actually a bit afraid that they are not interested in me and won't be happy if I tried to find them.

I agree with Renie. I just live each day, and forget about that fountain of youth.

Have a great week-end.

Well, Brenda, they could be posting old pictures of themselves. An old High school acquaintance of my sister's seems to have done that.. :)

It does seem as though some people start looking better and better as they age. Others seem to disappear and look like someone totally different the older they get. That would be me. The other day I found myself looking in the mirror asking "where'd I go?" cause that's not me looking back out of the mirror!! Its NOT! I must be getting punked.
