Just A Quick Update

I managed to get four blocks done on the quilt I am making for Maddie. Just this much has taken me 2 days. The first day was spent cutting. But I remember taking my first quilting class to make an Irish Chain, about 25 years ago, and was finished with the whole top in one weekend. I didn't even go back to finish the class. Age is slowing me down, and I am not sure why. This style of quilt with all the points is a little hard to do because they have to all "match up."
Taking this photo has helped me to see the bigger picture. I know by looking at the blocks butted up together like this, that I do not want to continue using the darker green fabric. I wanted this to be mostly pastels and those just don't look right to me. I am trying to use the fabrics I already have and not go out and buy any more. I think the quilts that I have made in the past that were already planned out beforehand though have turned out to look the best. I am not so sure of this.... cut and sew whatever I have, but time will tell.

Foggy Days are Good for Sewing..

This photo may seem odd, but it the only photo I have of the fog we have been experiencing lately. The photo is of a church that Bob and I visited on Saturday. We are trying to visit a new church once a week, just because we have so many beautiful old churches in our area.
I finally pushed myself into my sewing room to start making Maddie and Isla some quilts. I stood on my feet all day cutting the pieces out to be sewn together. My back has a pulled muscle or something painful going on, so I am here taking a break. The quilt I am working on first is a pinwheel star design with pinks and other pastel colors with a white background. I hope I can stay on this kick for a while because I have made myself a dead line of one year to get rid of the material I have. If not....then it will be donated. Knitting is much easier on the back, so far. It has been a few years since I have tried to put together a quilt, so I hope I can have it look alright when it is all finished. Or that I can just finish it..period.
The fog is getting annoying. I feel like the Wolf Man is going to sneak up on me anytime . Along with Dracula and Abbott and Costello. I watched American Idol again tonight and thought it was really annoying also. I am still feeling in need of a vacation. Can you tell......ha.

Ready For A Boat Ride and Some Sunshine....

About this time of the year, I start to get crabby from lack of sunshine and colorful flowers and green trees and grass. This is a s.l.o.w time of the year here in the Midwest waiting for spring to arrive on March 21st. Two more months. I would like to start planning a mini vacation that includes renting a boat on a hot summer day with the speed of the boat making my hair stand straight out. Maybe staying in a condo for 2 nights, reading, knitting, sewing, watching movies with my hubby. Seeing something new. Yep I am ready.
I know it is selfish to have these thoughts when there are people in Haiti and many other areas in the world who are having hell on earth right now. But I would still like to have a couple of days away. Not much else going on right now. I am still working out every chance I get and we had a wonderful day yesterday celebrating our little Maddie's 2nd birthday.
