I just finished my first downloaded book from eReader on my iPhone. The cost of downloading it was not that much cheaper than purchasing it, but the experience was so worth it. As much of a "real" book lover as I am.... I was not at all sure I could ever adjust to this type of reading... but after trying it, I am hooked! You can adjust the font to suit you, small or large or extra large, change the background color and font color to your liking, touch the top right of the page to bookmark it, and swipe the page to turn it. My favorite thing was touching a word that I didn't know the definition of and getting the answer immediately. My next favorite thing was not having a physical book to worry about. After hauling away hundreds of books over the past few years, this was such a great feeling. The book was a fiction book titled "Deliver Us From Evil" by David Baldacci. It was a very tough go, in the beginning, for me because of the subject matter. There were parts that described the evil of men in a way that I have never read before. It was just too descriptive for my taste, and I could have lived the rest of my life without reading the way this individual tortured people. The sad thing is... that it is most likely not really "fiction". I have a feeling some of this was what really happened under Hitler and Stalin and Mussolini's orders. The book is about a man that is truly evil. But the good news is that in the end the good guys win. It turned out to be a really good book with a lot of suspense. I love love love this new way of reading! I can't wait to download another book. I like suspense and thrillers and mysteries, but I may chose a little more....".lighthearted" one next time.

Yesterday Kayla was baptized at our church by a young priest that we admire very much. I really love all of his homilies and he especially made this day very memorable for all us. We had several friends, of Katy and Brian's, and a few family members over afterwards for food and cake to celebrate this special event. As you can tell from this photo, we are a pretty happy family. Bobby was Kayla's Godfather and Katy's long time high school friend was her Godmother. My week leading up to this day was very busy cleaning things that I don't usually bother with....but needed to be done. I got to visit with 2 friends this week also that I don't usually get to see, so that was nice. Today we are having a kick back relaxing day. I wanted to do a post about my Dad on this Memorial day but just haven't gotten around to it. He was a Medic in WWII and my Mom was working at Boeing in Seattle while he was overseas. Maybe someday I will collect enough information about what I have been told and write it all out for our children and grandchildren. I feel very proud of my family today and grateful that we get to spend a lot of quality time together. I miss my Mom and Dad at times like this. Thanks Dad....for all the lives you tried to save and for all the ones you did save.
