New Camera

 Japanese Maple

I have been contemplating buying a new camera for a long time now.  I have read about what different cameras do and don't do, and asked everyone I know what kind they have and if they like it, etc.  I finally became so overwhelmed at trying to pick one...I just went with a Sony Cybershot for around $200.

It has a 25 mm wide angle lens and an optical zoom 10x with a panorama and a HD movie feature.

I went outside and tried it out...while we had a brief moment of dry weather.  I am pretty happy with it.

I think one of my favorite features is going to be the zoom.  I took the one of the cat in our gully from a distance and I think it turned out great.  It also has smart auto, which for me will be a big plus.  I used to try to use the different settings on my other cameras and did not have all that much luck with them.  Tomorrow I will get to try out the movie part with the babies having their Easter fun.  Have a wonderful Easter!

Lambert Airport

Thank you to all of my blogger friends who have emailed me about our tornadoes last night.  We are fine.  We were at church when the sirens went off.  At first we went in the basement and then when we thought we were safe enough.. we relocated to the church.  As the service was underway...the sirens went off again and I wondered if our beautiful service would be interrupted.  We had a short power outage and I could see high winds and lightening out the window but our priest gave a beautiful homily and I felt very safe.  Even if the building had been hit...I still felt a sense of calmness...that everything was okay.  Unfortunately...many homes were damaged and our airport is closed indefinitely.   I haven't heard of any deaths as of yet...but many injuries.  We still have rain today and rain is in the forecast for the next 3 days.  We have flood warnings out.  I suppose we will just deal with things as they happen.  God Bless....and thanks again for your concern.  I am so blessed to have such dear friends that I may never meet face to face, but our souls have met through this blogging world.  Hugs!

Stormy weather

I used to think that weather conversations were just for people who didn't know what else to talk about.  That hasn't been the case lately.  It seems to have a lot to do with our daily lives here in the Midwest.  The other day from around 4 pm to 10 pm or later...we were under one warning alert after another.  Reports of tornadoes touching down all over, and wall clouds forming.  We were spared...but many areas around us had a lot of damage.

Lots of hail measuring going on also.  With face book and twitter...the news stations were getting lots of reports of various sizes of hail.  Some were shaped like eggs.  Others, baseball sized coming down at 90 miles an hour.  I was just remembering a woman I worked with in 1975 who was from Quebec, and had moved here to St Louis with her husband and family.  She said the only thing she knew about Missouri was that we had tornadoes and brown recluse spiders...and she was afraid of both of them.    At the time I thought that sounded strange...that we were known for these things.  This year so far it is not just Missouri that has had scary weather...it seems to be everywhere.
Stay safe.....and I will try and do the same...

I forgot to mention that these two photos came from a weather website.
