My Vacation Week

I had a week off this week.  Bob and I had planned on taking a little trip out east, but something came up at work and he couldn't take off.  So that left me with a week to do stuff on my own.  I had planned on maybe swimming and reading and just doing whatever I felt like doing at the moment.  Here are the events of my week.
First...the photo above is of our back yard that has had a drainage problem for some time.  We signed a contract with an erosion company to fix it, about a month ago.  They have been working on it off and on for a few weeks and have pushed to get it finished this week.    Swimming was difficult because they were right there when I would have wanted to go in.  Fortunately they took long lunch hours and there were 2 days that I did get out there.

This is pretty much what it looked like when they finished.  There is a long story about this whole neighborhood drainage problem....that would take too long to go into right now.  This was just one of the things that occurred on vacation week.

The past two days..I went out shopping trying to buy a couple of relatively inexpensive things to help me feel better about the decor of the house.  Not wanting to purchase new curtains...I switched the two that are in the dining room and living room.  The dining room was a little too green and I moved the rust curtains in there.

The colors we chose for the living room were Begonia for one wall, here on the piano wall.

And white dogwood for the other walls.  The white dogwood turned out looking light pink with a tint of purple.  I have been too busy to think about it all that much... for the past couple of years...but now with a week off, I decided to try and do something with it.  I looked on the internet searching, for colors that would play down the pink color.  The only thing I could find was that green was the complimentary color for pink.  I was thinking maybe some tans and peaches might play it down, so I bought the pillows on the couch.  The couch is covered with a quilt because it desperately needs to be reupholstered.   It is a Chippendale sofa that we bought about 30 years ago, and the 2 dogs that we had... ruined the white fabric.  When we chose white....we had no plans for me.  We are not sure about getting it spruced up...because we don't know where we are going to retire yet...and don't know what kind of furniture we will have room for.  So I have just been trying to make due with what we have, so that it doesn't look too bad when we have people come over to visit.  We have 2 Rousseau prints.  The one over the couch has the lighter matting and the other has a darker green matting.  I can't decide which one looks better over the couch.  I have a feeling the darker matted one may win.

I also bought a couple of skinny vases  with some color for the entry and the dining room.

I had recovered these kitchen chairs about a week ago, but now they don't go with the kitchen curtains.

Aside from all this stuff...I have been having some pretty intensively painful stomach problems.  After an endoscopy I had done a few months ago, I was diagnosed with acute gastritis and a hernia that were caused from having  Barrett's esophagus.  I finally called my doctor yesterday and he is going to increase the meds for 2 weeks and then if it isn't better in 2 weeks...triple them...and if that doesn't  I have tried to follow the gerds diet....but nothing seems to be helping.  I hope the increase in meds will.  Not looking forward to another surgery.

A plate that I bought that I like.

And last but not least....I have started to take some action on getting the cats in to a Sterile Feral program.  We have an appointment for the middle of August for one of them.  The mommy that is on her second liter.  She has had a total of 7 in the past year that we know of.  One of her kitties lounging on the head rest of the lounge chair outside.  I was wondering why it wouldn't stay up at the top like it is suppose to!
