Sterile Feral

Headlock

Twins?

Choke Hold

Mama cat's last litter.  I took her in a couple of weeks ago to get Fixed at Sterile Feral through the Humane Society.  I could not believe how many people were in line there with stray cats.  Most were saying the same thing I did.  "I had no idea how many strays there were in our area until I put food out for the kittens."  So far I spayed one and our neighbor sprayed and neutered two.  I may try and take some of these kittens in when I can.  The feral sterile program is all volunteers.  So nice to see how many people really love animals...even when they don't live in our homes.
I wanted to add from Rudee's comment that... the fee is $20 per animal and they spay or neuter and also give a 3 year rabies shot.  You have to provide the cage and after care.  You bring them in at 9 am and usually pick them up in the early afternoon.  You are suppose to try and keep them in the cage for 24 hours and give them small amounts of water and food after 8 hours.  Our cat escaped after 8 hours when I tried to give her water and food.  I thought she may not survive...but she showed up a few days later with her kittens and seemed very healthy.  Her appetite is better than ever and she looks healthier.  She always used to make sure her litter had food before she would eat....even though she was  nursing 5.  We can not own any animals because of allergies that our grand daughter has.  The outside cats just show up whenever.....so I don't really feel like they are mine.  I just feed them if they show up at the door looking hungry.  I think cats are really pretty...but there is one that we have seen come through the yard that scares the bejeebies out of me.  All black and very long hair and just looks scary.....yikes!  Who can resist a little kitten though.  I love to watch them wrestle and play outside.

How Our Minds Imagine When We Don't Have All The Facts..........

This photo is a scene from one of my favorite movies called "Twelve Angry Men" .  The story I wanted to talk about today reminded me of a jury I was on once where a lot of my fellow jurors were just trying to imagine what could have happened instead of dealing with the evidence that we DID have.  Which was very little....
A couple of weeks ago we noticed a house that just looked so odd ..with destruction... we just had to imagine what could have possibly happened to it.  The tree in the back yard was all sawed to pieces in a very strange way.  The back porch was all torn up.  The windows were all smashed in.  The garage door was busted in pieces.  There was no sign of smoke damage anywhere that we could see.  At first I thought it was an explosion from a meth house, or just a gas tank or leak somewhere...but that would have left some type of smoke evidence...I thought.  We kept trying to drive by it when we had time and the only thing we could think of was that the home had been foreclosed on and the previous owners went berserk and smashed it to pieces.  I could find nothing about it on the news and thought that in itself was strange because our news media stations are always out searching for a story.  There sure looked like there was a story here.  Finally last night while Bob was at a church meeting, someone that lives in that subdivision told the story about it.   The subdivision entrance was on a hill where it was very difficult to get out of or into safely.  The neighbors complained enough to get the city to try and fix the problem.  The only solution they could come up with was to tear down the house we saw damaged and redo the entrance, so that the entrance would not be on a hill with limited view of oncoming cars.  They allowed a SWAT Team to practice on the house before they tore it down.  It turns out the couple had been trying to sell the house for some time and the city bought it so they were happy.  I can't tell you how happy I was to hear the whole story behind this mystery.  With crime being what it is today I was just really spooked out about this house.  Now we know...it was just the good guys trying to find better ways to catch the bad guys.
