Flu Shots

I have never had a flu shot before.  But I am thinking this year I may try one.  I have had a stomach bug twice in the past month.  I don't think I was completely over the first one and then got another one.  I have heard that they don't help stomach bugs though.  Even one day... minus an illness is worth it.  I am usually way to busy to be sick.  Yesterday Katy had a day off and I was able to stay in bed.  Maddie came in with her Popsicle stick to "check me out".  Dr. Maddie asked for my insurance card first and accepted a photo of herself as a pretend card.  She filed it away...which took at least 20 minutes just like going to a real doctor.  After looking down my throat with her stick...she said the problem was that a spider got on my sandwich and put a worm down my throat.  Just the image of that in my brain made me want to run for the bathroom.  But I had to admire her creativity.  I could use some of that if I want to explore writing.  No worries about what people may think or say...just a totally free journey of expression.
I felt too bad to watch the game...but now know the outcome.  Oh well...this just makes it more exciting.  Hope they do well tonight!

Today we took a nice day long drive up to Alton, Illinois along the Scenic Hwy that borders the Mississippi River and the Bluffs and then a little further to Pere Marquette State Park  There were lots of boaters our today and the wind was right for sailing.  It is a very peaceful scenic drive.

The colors were not that pretty this year.  Probably because of the dry weather we had this summer.

The river and bluffs are always pretty here though.  I never really think of rivers are being very pretty but for some reason this particular area with all of it's pretty boats in the water makes it feel more like a man made lake instead of a river.

We stopped for awhile a a lookout area and let the girls get out and play.  They were really good in the car.

Some of the trees had some color.  I really wasn't expecting a lot of bold colors this year, so I was pleasantly surprised to see what we did.

Kayla running in the leaves.

Maddie loving the sound of the crunch they made.

We are getting ready to watch the game tonight.  Brian's brother lives in Detroit so I guess it would have been interesting if they had won and then we win tonight.  We also have friends that live in Texas, but they are from St. Louis and are still big Cardinal fans.  Let the best team win tonight!
