Sentimental Stuff

This morning we decided to put a couple of bikes out in the trash.  I am pretty sure we are not what you would call "hoarders".  We just like things that have some sentimental vibes associated with them.  I would guess that this bike of my husband's is about 37 years old.  We have been married for 35 years and he had it when we married.   He hasn't ridden it for many years but...still things like this are a little hard to part with.  I know that in the next few years we are going to be parting with a lot of things like this...because we just don't have the room for them anymore.

I think we should just take a lot of photos like this and then just remember them this way.

For some reason I thought about a song in the seventies by Don Mc Lean..."American Pie".  I remember really singing along to the song back then...but the words just don't make a lot of sense to me now.  I think it was just one of those songs that was fun to sing to.

So long "Huffy".  Geez...why am I getting so sentimental...it is my husband's bike................

A Beautiful Wedding

Long time friends are hard to come by sometimes.  I met Teresa when our kids were about 4.  She was a Brownie leader for our daughters and we hit it off and remained friends all these years.  Her son Matt and our son Bobby became friends also because they were in the same grade.  Their family moved away to Texas about 17 years ago, but we have stayed in touch.  Matt went to college here and he and Bobby reconnected.  Matt met a young lady from Indonesia at school and moved to Boston.  They are both very talented artists.  This wedding was so awesome!    I could not believe all of the inexpensive touches they added to this wedding and reception that made it feel very elegant.

You may have to really zoom in on this one to see it, but it was drawn by them.  There was one on every table and each one was different.  Their invitations, program, music, decor was all done by them...and in such a personal way.

This is not a good photo, but it is of Matt's shoes...which are really unique.  I don't know what kind they are, but Matt loves them and even wanted to get married in them...but Abe said "not today".  I think he had them on for the reception though.

When we went into the reception area we were told to grab a straw and find out table.  It was just an ordinary straw with a little flag on it with the table number.  They make art out of bottles and other things.  This photo does not reflect how nice the work is...but I wanted a photo just for the memories.

His and her cakes and cupcakes.  Now that is compromise!  A very good sign for a great marriage.

These cake pops were soooo good.  I have heard about them on facebook or pinterest, but this was my first taste....very tasty!

His cake.
A devoted St Louis Cardinals fan!

Her cake.
So dainty and sweet.
They are both artists, so that is a pencil in between them.
Matt gets to wear a cardinal shirt.

The wedding was really great because they both showed so much emotion and love for each other.  They both cried while they were getting married.  Tears of happiness.  We wish them all of the best in life!
