Wow! Time flies when you get to be my age! As we approach the end of 2014....I ponder what our New Year might bring. As far as resolutions go....well...I do think about them. Usually thinking about them...is as far as I get. Ha! I found this image above and saw a few I liked. Get organized. I have been working on that these past few months and hope to keep plowing through to the finish. Helping others. I try my best ....most of the time. Learn something new. I really like that! I love learning. Get out of debt. Well...we keep trying...but things keep breaking! I have already discussed this with Bob. I need to get it all on paper...and come up with a plan. Exercise. Well.....my daily housework is exercise. More family time. We are very fortunate to have our family around us. I am thankful everyday for this! Losing weight. Well....that is a problem for me. I don't drink alcohol or smoke...so no problems there. Enjoy Life More. This is the one I want to work on more. I am not sure how though. I already enjoy the things I do...like reading, sewing, knitting, and computer activities. I have stopped enjoying....or maybe never really enjoyed....cooking, cleaning, shopping, all those routine things you need to do. One thing I think about from time to time...is how many of our friends and acquaintances have passed away in the past few years. Knowing that...with age...our time shortens.....makes me want to do more of what I like doing...and less of what I don't like doing. Okay.....we will go out to eat everyday....and I won't clean the house. Let's see how that works out! Sorry family......

Last week was the last week of summer with the girls for me. Grandpa Lou is in town and will watch them until they start school in a couple of weeks. We had lots of fun and an overnight last week. The night before they stayed Maddie was begging to stay that night, and I had to tell her that I was too tired that night for them to stay and that I needed to get some sleep so we could spend all day and night and the next day together. She agreed that it was a good idea, because she wanted her very own fresh Grandma! That cracked me up. The photos above and below are of Kayla who helped make cookies and then wanted to watch them bake. Maddie helped too but wasn't into watching them bake.
I sure will miss them when they go to school all day this year.

You can see her reluctance here to relax her head.
Even if it was just for a short while.
This was the first time.. that I know of.... that she has done this.
Maddie has really learned a lot this year. Here she is swimming with her face in the water.
And here she is swimming without the support of the noodle.
On Friday....we decided to go on a nature hunt in our yard.
We have lambs wool, or lambs ear, plants all over the outside of the fence.
Kayla really liked that one the best.
It is very soft...like a soft animal.
Lambs ear on Maddie's ear.
Shhh...don't tell the neighbors....we picked some apples from their tree.
I don't think they will miss them.
Maddie wanted to press her findings in a bag....so they would last forever.
Here are Kayla's favorite finds.
Almost forgot this one. Maddie is sharing with Kayla.
This is the first time.. in a long time... that Waterpool has let Maddie pick her up and hold her.
And last... but not least....here is a work book page Maddie was doing. She must have become bored...because she started trying to see how small she could write.
#10 is very very small.
I don't know how she did it!

June 25th was our 37th wedding anniversary. Bob surprised me with a dozen large red roses. I feel bad because I didn't get him anything....yet. I saved the petals and I am thinking about doing something with them to preserve them or something crafty. Love that guy!

I look at this picture and scratch my head wondering how Maddie grew up so fast. I remember her first swim here at around 6 months old. Sob....
The floating sisters. They were trying to do ballet swimming and I was so tempted to find some of the old Ester Williams films with synchronized swimming. I used to love those movies. Maybe I will try and get them to watch one of those old films someday. I don't think they make any movies like any more. I hope someone will someday. I am really tired of all the violent and fowl language movies.
And here is Maddie's list of breakfast foods she likes. She is kind of a picky eater and I never know what to make for her. So here is my list! The last thing is sugar crush. She said she has been wanting to try it ever since she saw "Wreck It Ralph".
And here is a picture that Maddie made for her Daddy. Everything has a reason for being there...but I have forgotten what it all means.
And last but not least is Groovy Girl.
Also appearing.....is Groovy Girl's sister.

This morning Kayla came over and seemed very tired, so I suggested we go upstairs and watch TV on our bed while I did some sewing...thinking she may be able to fall asleep if she needed to. She likes to get adventuress when we go upstairs because there are still so many places she hasn't explored upstairs. She was looking in a closet where I keep my material and brought some out with instructions on what she wanted me to make with them. One was a blanket for her baby brother doll. As I was sewing it she changed her mind and asked me to make it a pillowcase. I finished that and then we decided to go out for lunch. We went to Chick-fil-a where they have a place to play for kids. For some reason she didn't want to play because she said it was too crowded...so we headed over to the Mall. On the way she fell asleep. I thought it would be better to let her sleep in the car for awhile and then go in the mall. In between running the air conditioner and opening the windows to stay cool...I decided to try and take a "Selfie". I think only young and pretty girls should do this.....and what is wrong with my left eye?!?! Now I know why I can't see out it very well. I think I had a stroke or something.
She woke up and was glad to see we were at the mall. The first thing she wanted to do was jump on the trampoline. Luckily Granny had $7.00 because they only take cash.
She knew that Granny does not go to the mall very often...maybe once a year. So she was my tour guide. She showed me around the place like it was an amusement park. Unfortunately she brought me into some expensive stores. She wanted some shoes that cost $30....and I told her that her feet grow too fast for shoes that cost that much. Then she wanted to buy a baby outfit that was going to be for her new baby. She said her Mom might have a baby for Christmas and she wanted to start buying some clothes. She had a girl outfit picked out...but she always talks about a brother. Well....Grams had to convince her that after we know there will be a baby...we will buy the clothes.
I am getting pretty good at not letting her talk me into everything. She is so darn adorable....it would be easy to give in. We went to another store that had a 50% off sale. Shoes for $1.99 and $9.99.....and sun glasses for 99 cents. I also let her pick out a necklace that said "Best Friends" where one half is hers... and the other half Maddie's. The young lady that checked her out said that her best friend is her sister too. I told her that her and Maddie ate 2 years apart and she said that her and her sister were 2 years apart also and have always been best friends.

Bob and I drove to Paducah, KY yesterday for the AQS Quilt Show. Bob sat down by the river and read a book and I walked through the show. I will be putting up some photos on my Quilt Blog. They have some really full and beautiful dogwoods there and they were very showy this time. We don't always get to be there when they are in bloom. A few years back they were in bloom and then this year.

I haven't watched this movie is such a long time....I don't remember what it is really about. But I have had thoughts of dressing up like this when I go out in public. I have been shocked at how rude people are these days. When ever I go the the store people walk right in front of me when I am looking at something....and try to intrude on my space...as if I am invisible. Another thing that happens to me way too often...is when I am in line to check out at the grocery store...whomever is behind me will push their cart into me! Then they will move right in front of the machine that I need to sign to pay for my items. I always have to say...excuse me...I still have to get in this space to pay for my items. The running into me with their cart is the real kicker. The next time this happens I am going to scream so loud....and fall on the floor...and report an injury! I remember one day when I was at the store...a man ran right into me as he was hurrying out and I fell into a cart and cut my leg. Citizens arrest!!! And guess where the least likely place is that I feel invisible?? At church... of all places! I went to a noon mass a few weeks ago...and there were PLENTY of open seats all over. A lady came next to me and wanted my seat. She said..."Oh I will just sit on the edge....you don't have to move down." Really??? I don't think so. I moved. I have been so upset about these incidences...that I am asking God..."Why is this happening???" The answer that I heard...was ....."Now you know how I feel...." Can you imagine the creator of the universe being ignored? We all do it....all to often....just because we don't SEE him. I want to see you Lord.....every where I go...and in all the people I meet. Please let them see you in me.

Inversion therapy table elongates the spine and relaxes back muscles. It feels like it opens up the disks and that may the thing that really helps me. As I have aged I can see that my shoulders have curved forward and I have the hunched over look. My excess weight is what is really causing so much pain. The fat on my body seems to be super glued on.....I just can't seem to get rid of it!I am currently trying to follow an eating plan called "Forks Over Knives". I watched a documentary about it and then bought the cookbook. It is very extreme and I may have trouble following it completely. The plan is to not eat or drink anything that comes from an animal. No milk, cheese, butter, eggs...all dairy products are eliminated. Everything you eat has to be plant based. So I have bought a lot of items that I have never tried or even heard of. One item...flax seed...is good! We have been putting in our smoothies in the morning. It has a nutty flavor. I found some good info about it on Web MD so I copied and pasted it here.
Although flaxseed contains all sorts of healthy components, it owes its primary healthy reputation to three of them:
- Omega-3 essential fatty acids, "good" fats that have been shown to have heart-healthy effects. Each tablespoon of ground flaxseed contains about 1.8 grams of plant omega-3s.
- Lignans, which have both plant estrogen and antioxidant qualities. Flaxseed contains 75 to 800 times more lignans than other plant foods.
- Fiber. Flaxseed contains both the soluble and insoluble types.

I think just about everyone.... everywhere.... in the country is really.... really tired of this dreadful weather. I am..... and yet at the same time I know that spring and summer bring about lots and lots of yard work and pool care. I swear I am not getting lazy. I am just getting older and would rather rest more than work.
It wouldn't surprise me...if the weather this year...skips spring and goes straight to summer heat and humidity. I am just full of positive thoughts this evening...aren't I? Sorry....I just had to put something up because I was tired of looking at the last post.....

Yesterday was an eventful day for Bob and I. We went over to Kia and leased a brand new 2014 Kia Soul. Our 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe was just speaking to us to rethink our means of transportation. I had gone into the dealership last week and spoke with a lovely young lady about my options and we agreed to bring Bob in on Thursday to get the ball rolling. We ended up leasing instead of buying because I could get a very low ($250 a month) payment. This is our first time leasing and I think it will be good for us because we don't drive very many miles and with leasing they take care of the license fees and sales tax. We still have an option to purchase it after 3 years and we may end up doing that. I guess it is never too late to try something new. We will see as time goes by if it was a good choice or not. I am looking forward to driving it more as soon as our winter weather settles down. This weekend we are predicted to have a 12 inch snow blizzard with below freezing temperatures.
I hope to start back blogging this year. I need to try and keep my mind sharp. If you are reading this.....thanks for visiting!
