Just Hanging Around

Yes....that is me hanging on my new Body Champ Inversion Therapy Table.  My back and neck have been giving me so much pain.....I wasn't sure where to turn.  Going to any type of Dr. would cost so much....I decided to go this route first.  I found this  on Amazon for about $100.  I have only been on it 3 or 4 times and it has helped!  The Inversion therapy table elongates the spine and relaxes back muscles. It feels like it opens up the disks and that may the thing that really helps  me.  As I have aged I can see that my shoulders have curved forward and I have the hunched over look.  My excess weight is what is really causing so much pain.  The fat on  my body seems to be super glued on.....I just can't seem to get rid of it!I am currently trying to follow an eating plan called "Forks Over Knives".  I watched a documentary about it and then bought the cookbook.  It is very extreme and I may have trouble following it completely.  The plan is to not eat or drink anything that comes from an animal.  No milk, cheese, butter, eggs...all dairy products are eliminated.  Everything you eat has to be plant based.  So I have bought a lot of items that I have never tried or even heard of.  One item...flax seed...is good!  We have been putting in our smoothies in the morning.  It has a nutty flavor.  I found some good info about it on Web MD so I copied and pasted it here.
Although flaxseed contains all sorts of healthy components, it owes its primary healthy reputation to three of them:
  • Omega-3 essential fatty acids, "good" fats that have been shown to have heart-healthy effects. Each tablespoon of ground flaxseed contains about 1.8 grams of plant omega-3s.
  • Lignans, which have both plant estrogen and antioxidant qualities. Flaxseed contains 75 to 800 times more lignans than other plant foods.
  • Fiber. Flaxseed contains both the soluble and insoluble types.
There are a lot of things that I could write about today...but lack of time will prevent me from it for now.

Wonderful to see a post by you - but darn - sorry to hear about your back and neck -...glad this is helping.

I also have back problems, and that rounded shoulder look and could benefit by this. I may go check this out when I get time. I find even standing and cooking in the kitchen for longer than 10 minutes, i can feel pain and stiffness in my back.

Hope all is well with u and the family! I imagine you are enjoying spring so far (not sure if you are having snow).

Just managing to catch up Brenda

Sorry to hear about your back problems hope that therapy table works.

I managed to lose a stone last year by following the Weightwatcher diet which is quite easy. Mainly just healthy foods nothing extreme. Have managed to keep most of it off by swimming. Not easy in the winter though & have put a couple of pounds back on so I hope to increase my exercise a bit now the weather is improving.

Hope you have a happy Easter.
